InfoLab showcases results of the DataPublication@UPorto Data Pilot and Extension

FEUP Infolab is attending the “Putting the EOSC vision into practice” conference at the beautiful city of Porto, which is also our home!

At the conference we have presented two Demos (LabTablet integration with B2DROP and Interactive showcase of Dendro) and a Poster (Domain-specific metadata records in B2Share records).

These works report on the results of the DataPublication@UPorto Data Pilot and its extension, carried out by INESC TEC for EUDAT. Focusing on gathering data from its creation, we use Android devices to gather data and metadata, via the LabTablet application, available on the Play Store and on GitHub.

After the data is gathered, it is synchronised to Dendro, a user-friendly, Dropbox-like file storage and description solution for research data. It is fully built on ontologies for semantic metadata and now supports data synchronisation to the B2DROP service to mirror the file and folder structure of files in Dendro. Dendro can be tested here and its source code is available on GitHub.

After researchers are ready to publish their data as a new dataset, they can export the data to B2SHARE, EUDAT’s solution for the long term sharing of research data.

This work is tightly integrated with the Research Data Management workflows currently being implemented at INESC TEC and the University of Porto as part of the TAIL Project.
